It's All About Perspective

A large part of living happily and “free” is perspective. I know I’ve talked about this and you have probably seen big shifts in me this last few years. Every morning, I choose to be happy and not let anything drag me down. It doesn’t mean shit won’t stop happening to us but how we handle it makes all the difference in the world. Life is going to continue throwing stuff at you all the time. (and when I say you, I mean us as a collective) Whether that be taxes, kids, business pains, friends, wives, cars….the list goes on. It will never end until we are dead and buried. There will always be something. So we have to decide how we are going to approach this from now on. Do we stress, get angry, lash out and stew on things over and over, or do we step back and find an alternative way? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. If we keep approaching our problems the same way every year and nothing changes, then what’s the point? We all deserve to be happy. That’s our birth right. So, how do we become happy? It’s not the next job, or relationship or new business, car or money…it all starts from within. Ourselves. Nothing else will bring that. We may think it does but it will be an empty happiness. This then goes back to perspective and reflection. Going inward and starting to accept full responsibility for everything that has happened to us. This can be difficult but when we start to own everything, then peace starts to come. Again, it’s a perspective shift.

Gas or Food?

You are down to your last $5 or $10 to your name and that’s a decision you have to make. Have you ever been there in your life? I have. Quite a few times. It’s a huge teachable moment.

Peripatetic: traveling from place to place, in particular working or based in various places for relatively short periods.

Minimalism: A friend said my journey in minimalism is rare so I will talk about it. I willingly downsized and started on this journey.
